lyrics
Fin de siècle round twenty-one, catch XXII
Conciliation with thy maker through his irritation
Bipolar minds spawned a singular war
Catharsis through the cataclysm
Selective retrograde amnesia
Masses tried by fire, then cleansed by the flood
Idle hands do the devil’s work indeed
- Rest no longer
Pound the drum of the global strife
- Hear it sing
The hammer of ungods, too heavy and too cold
See it descend, hear its call
Mouths of the crippled
Spit forth the hangman’s hymn
The chorus howls in unison
Of thy closure, praising thy fall
The century of contradiction
Autocracy of force-fed happiness
Gluttony, glamour and rape
Melpomene mocking Thalia
Twisted mirrors distorting each other
Winds of madness
- O, hear them howl
The tombs look nice tonight
The dead glow at night
They are forever
With the light coming from their tombs
So we can appreciate
What comes next
Betwixt tigerish wraiths
In the shape of human shadows
Drug-induced sheol
Forget and be forgotten
Psychonautic tear-stained evangelion
You bet we had it coming
- O, hear them howl.

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
